The Golfers Pocket Referee was first published in September 1988 to provide a quick and easy guide to the rules of golf and it has been continually improved and updated ever since.
The rules of golf are international and are governed world-wide by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in conjunction with the United States Golf Association. Both bodies (collectively) own the copyright of the official rule book, which is complicated and covers 206 pages.
There was a need, therefore, for a quick-check pocket referee which would give the golfer immediate access to the correct infringement / penalty information during a round of golf, without interruption of a time consuming search through the rule book. With this instant information in their pocket, a golfer could settle any argument or dispute on the spot.
The Golfers Pocket Referee was designed to meet this need, and both the Rules Committee of the R & A and the USGA gave agreement to us to produce and market it.
The Golfers Pocket Referee is designed, produced, published and printed in Scotland by St Andrews Marketing Ltd.
